A ‘Guide to experiencing the Blues in St. Louis‘, from St. Louis Magazine. STLBlues appreciates all the highlights they include, and of course the STLBlues.net mention.

Some of the highlights –

The St. Louis Blues Society has FIVE different compilation CDs available on their website! All STL Artists!!

Honoring 1914, when composer and trumpeter W.C. Handy penned a song called “The Saint Louis Blues”

Pay a visit to the National Blues Museum, and for the best experience, tie it to a concert in the Lumiere Legends Music Room!

*I  was fortunate to be both a co-founder and a member of the NBM ‘Starting Team‘.

BLUES AT THE ARCH
This popular end-of-summer celebration pays tribute to St. Louis’ storied blues history and showcases the talents of national and local artists. Produced in partnership with the National Blues Museum and the National Park Service, this free festival is the only one of its kind to take place on national park grounds.

It’s been a journey 30 years and running, and I plan to keep pushing it forward. Just another enthusiast of our music scene – and Blues music history. And I’m not alone, there’s an army of St. Louis Blues Ambassadors!

Like my pals Michael Higgins, Carol Boss, Bob Baugh, Bruce Toulmin, Ziggy Mo’gan, Dave Smith, Bruce Olson, Reed Radcliffe, Camille Jeffress….the list goes on and on. 🙂

To paraphrase Papa Ray – “STL is one of the top 5 indigenous Blues Cities of the world”. And before that…we had Ragtime.
